Cuban film posters from the 60's onwards.
The film industry required original , standard sized promotion posters for mass distribution. A small cadre of designers and artists produced many of these unique and imaginative posters under the auspices of the IACIC - Instituto Cubano del Arte y la Industria Cinematogrαficos - the official government cinema authority.Artists such as Bachs. Nico, Rostgaard & Martinez were responsible for much of the IACIC output, their designs often driven by the limited stocks of ink available for their work
All are screenprints, many are period originals & show slight wear and yellowing due to age, as well as insect damage or brown spotting due to the nature of the paper & its reaction to the elements.1990's Cuban reprints are whiter in tone as a rule of thumb.Often, the original posters themselves may no longer exist putside the hands of an individual collectors or museums.
All of the posters on this site are original Cuban hand produced screenprints, with their distinctive thick heavy paint, thus may not be immaculate and subject to wear & tear - befiting their age and rarity. A quick search of Ebay will invariably produce Cuban film posters, but most will be recent ( nasty )giclee copies produced outside Cuba & without official sanction & thus breaking copyright. All Art of Revolution stock is Cuban sourced and genuine. As a general caveat, many Cuban movie posters on ebay and other sites will be more recent rescreens - this in no way detracts from the quality of the print or the message intended, but be careful spending $100's on something that may not be as rare as they are initially seem.I know this from first hand experience.
Please note that stocks of these posters are very limited and sell quite quickly - We will update the site as often as possible, please check if the actual poster is still available - send us a message via the contact form and we will more happy to reserve or provide more detial.
